Artistic tastes and taste buds collide this weekend at an annual fundraiser for Allied Arts.

ARTini combines visual art with inventive martinis to support Allied Arts and more than 20 local arts groups it helps support.

This year, 11 Oklahoma City restaurants will shake "” or stir "” up original recipes for food and drink in a competition for the title of "Best ARTini." With more than 500 guests expected, Allied Arts anticipates a record attendance.

The fundraiser features original martini recipes reflecting the theme of time. Each restaurant must create descriptive drink names, shape staff attire and decorate tables to fit their presentation.

To meet the expectations of the crowd, several restaurants are planning costumes and special drinks. Without revealing any secrets, Jamie Fritts-Winteroth, general manager of Deep Fork Grill, said her place plans to go all-out.

"We love this event," she said. "We've always been very successful. We really like to go over-the-top, so guests can expect it to have a great showing."

ARTini begins at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Oklahoma City Public Farmers Market, 311 S. Klein. Live music and dancing will entertain guests. In addition, Allied Arts will host a silent art auction. All proceeds will benefit the nonprofit organization, the state's only United Arts Fund, which provides money and support for arts organizations around the state.

Tickets are $65 in advance or $75 at the door. Dress is urban chic. To purchase tickets, visit www.alliedartini.com. "”Luke Atkinson
