IndianGiver — Plafond EP
If you were to peruse the “About” section of IndianGiver’s Facebook page, you’ll notice how the instruments attributed to each of the Oklahoma City band’s five members are described with downright flippancy: Dylan Jordan plays “sticks & animal skins,” while Jazzton Rodriguez earns his keep with “shanties & loud noises,” and so on.

Fans of the comedy classic Friday may recognize the name Big Worm, but the Big Worm behind Bench All-Stars is rooted not in South Central L.A., but on the streets of Oklahoma City.

The guys of Oklahoma City’s Code 22 seem like a likable group of fellas. Their latest release, Going Soft: The Acoustic Album!, is

clean, acoustic sound and clear, unstressed vocals as an alternative
praise-and-worship band.

into this rarified air on its self-released EP, Polysynthetic Fields.

Want to get to the top via “From the Top”? The NPR program is on the lookout for pre-college-aged classical musicians to perform at its live concert radio performance at 3 p.m. May 15, 2011, at Oklahoma City University. From soloists and vocalists to composers, interested students age 8 to 18 who have not yet graduated high school may apply through Feb. 25, 2011, at www.fromthetop.org. Some may be eligible for scholarships up to $10,000. Hosted by Christopher O’Riley (pictured), the show features a mix of performances and interviews, from serious to not-so-serious. Brad Ferguson, KCSC general manager, said in a press release that it is “gratifying to show a national production company what a dynamic city Oklahoma City is, both in business and in arts.” The event will be hosted on the campus’ Kirkpatrick Auditorium by KCSC-FM, which is one of 200 public radio stations to broadcast “From the Top” each week. For more information, call 974-2120.
