The Black Jack Gypsys — 3:1

Oklahoma City trio The Black Jack Gypsys doesn’t engage in any rock ’n’ roll posturing in its debut EP, 3:1. It’s the real deal.

Parker Millsap and Michael Rose — Palisade

Fledgling singer-songwriter and Purcell native Parker Millsap builds quite a foundation with stand-up bassist Michael Rose on their debut, Palisade. From the sounds of it, a monumental career is in the works.

Admirals — Admirals

With its self-titled debut EP, it’s not hard to see Stillwater rock outfit Admirals wears its influences on its sleeve.

Nerd rockers support

Rod Lott January 18th, 2011

Is it rap? Is it folk? Is it both?

Whatever it is that Chris “Sandman” Sand does, it’s a dream. The self-described “rappin’ cowboy” was the subject of the documentary “Roll Out, Cowboy,” an official selection of last year’s deadCENTER Film Festival. Having toured with the likes of Michael Franti & Spearhead and Devendra Banhart, Sand now comes to Oklahoma City for a 7 p.m. Sunday show at Picasso’s Cafe, 3009 Paseo. Also on the bill is local nerd-rock quartet Dr. Pants.
