Experience Oklahoma homes as they were a century ago with the Heritage Hills Centennial Historic Homes and Gardens Tour from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in the Heritage Hills neighborhood, located at N.W. 14th and 15th streets between N. Shartel and Walker avenues, in Oklahoma City's oldest historic preservation district.

"We're really excited about this year's tour," tour public relations chair Jeana Miner said. "It's an official centennial event, and in light of that, we are highlighting homes that are 100 years old or older."

All members of the public are invited to tour six private residences, two private gardens and three historic sites:
" the Gaylord-Pickens Oklahoma Heritage Center,
" the Sieber Hotel and
" the Overholser Mansion.

PLANS
This year, Miner said, the homes all are located along 14th Street, with one garden on 15th, so guests are invited to take the tour on foot. Volunteers along the tour will provide historic facts about the early residents of the community.

Special offerings on both days at the Oklahoma Heritage Center will include:
" gourmet luncheon items at Cheever's Centennial Café,
" music from Mary Reynolds,
" a photography exhibit by artist M.J. Alexander, and
" a book signing by historians Paul Lambert and Bob Blackburn, co-authors of "Centennial History of Oklahoma: You Know We Belong to the Land."

Parking will be available at the Heritage Center, 1400 Classen Drive, and at several places along N.W. 13th Street. Tickets range from $12 to $15. For more information, visit their site."Lisa Janssen
