Homeownership in the metro skews slightly toward males

Gazette staff January 25th, 2011

Who is the typical homeowner in Oklahoma City? According to a recent survey conducted by The Media Audit, it’s probably a male ... but just barely.

Of the 737,414 adults age 18 and over who own a home in the city (accounting for 73.8 percent of the base population), 52 percent are male; 48 percent, female.

When it comes to age, the 35-44 group comprises the largest chunk of the homeowner pie at 18.4 percent. Following close behind are ages 25-34 (18 percent) and 55-64 (17.1 percent). The smallest cut belongs to ages 18-20, comprising only 3.1 percent of city homeowners. —Gazette staff
