Thanks for the shout-out, Jesse Eisenberg!

Gazette staff February 9th, 2011

Even if “The King’s Speech” wins Best Picture at next month’s Academy Awards, the Oklahoma Film Critics Circle singled out “The Social Network” as its pick for the best motion picture of 2010. The organization also honored the Facebook biopic with three other awards, including Best Actor for Jesse Eisenberg.

This came as news to Eisenberg, as he revealed on an episode of NBC’s “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” last week.

In talking with Leno about the accolades bestowed upon him for “The Social Network,” the young actor said, “I’ve won some awards that, frankly, I didn’t know existed.”

“Like which ones?” Leno asked. “The Oklahoma City, uh, Film Critics,” Eisenberg said, to a round of applause, to which he joked, “The 17 voters are here.”

Continued Eisenberg, “It was such a great honor, but at the same time, you think, ‘If I won Oklahoma City, I must’ve lost so many other awards I haven’t heard about.’” Two Gazette film critics are members of the OFCC, both of whom cast their vote for Eisenberg and appreciate the shout-out. Jesse, we know “Zombieland 2” hasn’t even shot a frame of film yet, but consider yourself an early contender.
