Festival of the Arts celebrates the visual, culinary and performing arts, and offers plenty of kids’ activities.

Courtney Silva April 27th, 2011

Oklahoma City’s rite of spring, the Festival of the Arts, is back for its 45th year. Now through Sunday, the fest takes place in downtown around the Myriad Botanical Gardens, 301 W. Reno.

Featuring 31 food vendors, more than 200 visual artists and nearly 300 performing artists, this year’s offering sports a wide variety of entertainment for all ages, said Angela Cozby, festival director.

“There will be almost any type of entertainment that you can think of,” she said. “None of the food items are priced over $8, so you can get out as a fun activity for the whole family without breaking the bank.”

The event continues implementing its plans to go green, with a booth that gives attendees information on becoming more environmentally friendly.

Free to the public, Festival of the Arts is open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. today through Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. For more information, call 270-4848 or visit artscouncilokc.com. —Courtney Silva
