Munn ho!: Seventh in a series

You can't keep a good Munn down.

Gazette staff June 1st, 2011

Hey, Olivia Munn, whatcha been up to since we last checked in? Besides demonstrating your mad skillz at eating hamburgers while driving a Jet Ski and wearing a bikini, that is.

The Okie turned actress/ model/geek icon bounced back PDQ from NBC’s nixing of her sitcom, “Perfect Couples,” by landing a role in “More as the Story Develops,” a pilot for an HBO series by Aaron Sorkin, who recently won an Academy Award for his “The Social Network” screenplay.

Set amid the world of broadcast news, the still-developing “Develops” will feature Munn as a financial analyst (say wha-huh?) and network anchor (aah, yes).

It’s not Sorkin’s first stab at portraying the network world (“Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip,” anyone? Didn’t think so. Surely you’ll accept “Sports Night”?), but will it be his second stab at, um, stabbing an Oklahoma actress? He previously dated Kristin Chenoweth when she appeared on “The West Wing,” another Sorkin series.

Should they hook up in a relationship, the Sork — has any tabloid called him that yet? Chicken-Fried News hopes it sticks — no doubt would be proud of her taking the No. 2 spot on Maxim magazine’s “Hot 100” list for 2011. It’s not an Oscar, but it’ll have to do.
