The first cut is the deepest

Professor Kurt Hochenauer (Commentary, “Students cover tax cuts,” May 18, Oklahoma Gazette), here is an idea on how to lower the costs of Oklahoma’s colleges:

All faculty and staff at four-year institutions take a 50 percent pay and benefits cut or accept the pay that community college faculty and staff get, whichever is lower.

Actions speak louder than words.

And while we're asking people in high places to do something against their nature, let's tell Congress the same thing.

Somehow I think that idea will be met with a big middle finger. No one is going to volutarily cut their pay.
