Oklahoma City street crews are working around the clock to clear ice and trees from City streets, City of Oklahoma City's Kristy Yager said.

The City of Oklahoma City has 75-100 people dedicated to working each 12-hour shift, 24-hours per day until conditions improve with shift changing at noon and midnight, said Yager.

Oklahoma City started with 8,000 tons of rock salt in stock on Friday. By Monday morning 7,000 tons of salt remained. Crews can spread about 1,500 tons of salt per day.

Magnesium Chloride, a de-icing agent, is added to the salt when the temperature dips into the teens.

Yager shared these safety tips:

Watch for downed power lines Proceed cautiously through intersections  Stay off City streets  - Gazette staff
