LOTSA LASAGNA
Italian chef Danny Falcone has invited another Italian chef, Phil Custino, to join him in a partnership at Falcone’s Pizzeria & Deli at 6705 N. May, where Custino will produce his own specialty lasagna.

Custino’s Italian Restaurant was at May Avenue and Wilshire Boulevard until the late ’90s.

“In my three restaurants here, I prepared over a million trays of lasagna. I’m ready to make a million or so more,” Custino said. He will be layering the lasagna noodles and cheese with his own sauce.

PIZZA PLANS
Another Marco’s Pizza, a concept founded in 1978 with more than 265 stores across 20 states, opened recently at 3210 S. Boulevard in Edmond, with plans for more in the state.

Kevin and Laurel Wilkerson are area reps for the Oklahoma territory. The couple already owns a Marco’s Pizza in Broken Arrow; a franchisee in their territory also owns and operates a Marco’s Pizza in Lawton.

SMASHING!
The second Oklahoma City location of Smashburger opened its doors in early December at 2127 W. Memorial.

Options at Oklahoma City’s Smashburger locations (with another at 7642 W. Reno) include a regional menu featuring an Oklahoma Smashburger topped with fried pickles, pepper Jack cheese, haystack onions, fresh lettuce, tomato and buttermilk ranch dressing on an artisan egg bun.

Casey Klepper, local franchisee, said he expects to open several more locations in the greater Oklahoma City area over the next several years.

“The north Oklahoma City location will bring the incomparable flavors and styles of Smashburger to the busy Memorial corridor and trade area,” Klepper said. “Both locations will share features that are unique to Smashburger, but will also have their separate atmospheres and take on a life of their own.” Fans of Smashburger in Oklahoma City can follow the restaurant on Twitter at @SmashburgerOKC or facebook.com/ smashburger.
