No respect

Gazette staff January 18th, 2012

The Cowpokes of Oklahoma State suffered a slight at the hands of The Associated Press recently when AP’s poll ranked the 12-1 team third on its final tally for the season, behind the Louisiana State Tigers, who couldn’t muster a score of any sort in the Bowl Championship Series game against the Alabama Crimson Tide, which received the most votes for No. 1.

While CFN can barely recall any details of the 21-0 affair (there was a basketball game between Grambling State and Alcorn State that was far more compelling), we’re pretty confident that OSU could’ve, y’know, at least, kicked a field goal against Alabama or something.

Four voters saw fit to grant OSU — whose record is the same as Alabama’s — their No. 1 vote. That could mark the first time in history that Iowa State beat a team that was ever voted No. 1 in the AP poll.

All CFN can really conclude from this collegiate quagmire is that those BCS footballers need to take a page out of their basketball-playing brothers’ books and get that playoff system rolling.
