Nope, the hour-long comedy, which debuted Sunday, is being untrue to its initials. Although based on the novel Good Christian Bitches by Kim Gatlin, the title acronym now stands for something else entirely, according to a recent interview with Chenoweth, a Christian herself.
“First
of all,” asked Reuters reporter Jill Jacobs, “what the heck does ‘GCB’
stand for?” Answered Chenoweth, “Good Christian Belles.”
Despite this whitewashing, however, the actress’ character remains named Carlene Cockburn.
