In Oklahoma, artists aren’t always able to unleash their wild side, but Biting the Apple provides an annual exception. From Friday to Saturday at Individual Artists of Oklahoma Gallery, there’s no holding back.

Doubling as a fundraiser, Biting the Apple is a juried art and performance exhibition where local creatives can express themselves through provocative and erotic art.

Each year carries a different theme; this 21st installment brings some glitz to the event with Glam! Participating artists used this as an inspiration for their works, from photography and sculpture to painting and mixed media.

Biting the Apple is an exhibition where people are able to see art that isn’t often shown in places here in Oklahoma,” said Clint Stone, IAO executive director.

Marilyn Artus, vice-president of IAO’s board of directors, serves as one of the artists and one of three judges.

“The atmosphere at Biting the Apple is always very sensual. The art is sexual and erotic,” she said. “People even dress up for it.”

Scheduled to provide live performances at the 21-and-up event are TnT Burlesque, Jabee, Balthazar, Perpetual Motion Dance, The Ladies of The Boom, The Phoenix Rising Phelines, 7 Deadly Sins, Muse Art, Sir Martin, Dan Taylor and 2xLP.

Punish Petal will present a fashion show, featuring hair and makeup by Hair Lounge by Miranda and Velvet Monkey.

Biting the Apple offers a cash bar, and food will be provided by area eateries, including Picasso’s on Paseo, The Roadside Chef, Joey’s Pizzeria and Flip’s.
