Camels, ostriches and local TV celebs take over the Remington Park racetrack Sunday

Mia Cantu April 17th, 2012

Don’t be surprised if you see camels and ostriches speeding along the racetrack Sunday as Remington Park hosts its third annual Extreme Racing.

Sponsored by the Oklahoma Quarter Horse Racing Association, the family-friendly event features some unusual races for a worthy cause.

Each animal and jockey combination will be assigned a celebrity trainer, who has chosen a local nonprofit organization to represent. The winners of both races will receive a $1,000 donation from Remington Park for the champs’ charity of choice.

The represented organizations will man informational booths on the plaza and collect donations from the crowd. The organization with the most donations will be named Fan Favorite, and will receive a matching donation of up to $1,000 from Remington Park.

Extreme Racing begins at 1:30 p.m. and is free to the public. For more information, visit remingtonpark.com.
