OKG7 comfort-food fixes

Every week, we give you seven OKC-area restaurants to explore.

Fall means comfort food. And comfort food tastes different for everyone!

Yukon Super Buffet

1105 Garth Brooks, Yukon

354-2088

It’s not hard to find comfort in an all-you-can-eat buffet. Yukon Super Buffet offers mostly Chinese dishes, with a few Japanese and American side items. Get your grub on with seafood, crab legs, salmon, salads and fresh fruit. The Mongolian grill is fun, too; the customer chooses the ingredients, and the chef cooks it all. Try the Chinese dessert called the cream roll.

Spoon Restaurant: Fine Thai Cuisine

1428 W. Britton

286-9179

Maybe your tastes lean toward the finer things in life. Slow down a little and enjoy some fresh-rolled sushi or a patron favorite such as that staple dish from Thailand: pad thai. The hearty noodles in this rich peanut-based dish will warm your belly and mood in no time. Make sure to try Spoon’s daily special.

Capers

6317 N. Meridian

720-2600

Maybe nothing says comfort to you like “hummus.” At this just-opened Mediterranean joint, you can get just that, as well as fresh-made pita bread, stewed veggies, several varieties of basmati rice and falafel. Try the fried whole catfish or salmon croquette from the dinner buffet. For dessert, a selection of homemade baklava.

Spago Ristorante

10600 S. Pennsylvania

378-7735

Pasta might be in the top 10 list of universal comfort foods. At Spago, you can get your fix of mama’s lasagna, pasta layered with ground beef, several types of cheeses and homemade marinara. Try the spinach and mozzarella ravioli, topped with a creamy pesto. Enjoy tiramisu or limoncello mascarpone cake for dessert.

Smokey’s BBQ & Diner

2410 N. Portland

948-2001

Sometimes the only food to curb a craving is the carb-heavy, smoked kind.

At Smokey’s, take your pick from ribs, brisket, hot links, barbecue chicken and pulled pork. Pair that with a loaded baked potato or one of the sides, from baked beans, potato salad and cole slaw. Like it on Facebook for the daily special.

Baked Cakes & Gourmet Desserts

2721 S. I-35 Service Road, Moore

793-9900

If you’ve got a sweet tooth, you’re not alone! Get a cupcake, mini cupcake, cookie or brownie at Baked. Dine in with a brownie and a cup of coffee or cappuccino. Take half a dozen chocolate chip cookie-dough cupcakes home to the family or grab half a dozen team-inspired cuppies to set out during the watch party for your favorite team.

The Garage

601 S. Bryant, Edmond

341-5801

With an already stellar reputation for burgers and beer, this Norman eatery is expanding to the north! Get the same great menu, only now in Edmond. And really, who doesn’t find comfort in a bacon-avocado-ranch burger with a side of fries and a cold brew? It’s open until 2 a.m. every day, so you’re covered whenever the craving strikes.
