On Sept. 20, the new Edmond store opened at 1225 E. Second. The other three Oklahoma locations are in Moore, Norman and Quail Springs Mall.
Moreover, the company is planning to open three additional stores in the near future.
Among them is a Raising Cane’s planned for Adams Tower on the University of Oklahoma campus. The original restaurants that started it all back in 1996 was built near the campus of Louisiana State University, and the company has a history working well in university towns.
Company spokesman Brad Richard said another store will open at 14100 N. Pennsylvania Avenue in late November, while another eatery is set for Tulsa.
Raising Cane’s has drawn widespread media attention because of the remarkable story of its founder, Todd Graves. After being rejected by banks for a business loan, and after being told by a business professor that his chicken-finger concept couldn’t work, Graves worked as a boilermaker and a commercial salmon fisherman to raise money to start his first store.
The operation has since grown to more than 130 stores in 16 states.
“The company has been looking for growth in outer markets like Texas and Oklahoma,” Richard said, “and we’ve been very pleased with the growth we’ve seen in Oklahoma.”
