In many cases, a main factor behind selection is affordability. While the national economy inches toward recovery, families are still tasked with finding the all-around best college for their pride and joy, as well as for their pocketbooks.

According to kiplinger.com, Oklahomans need not look far, with three schools in the state having made the top 100 of best-value public colleges in the United States.

The University of Oklahoma, the University of Sciences and Arts of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University all make the cut when it comes to the cost per year and average debt after graduation. Okies beat out schools like University of Nebraska and Rutgers.
