Facebook fumble

Gazette staff January 30th, 2013

Wes Welker’s wife apparently forgot that social media isn’t the safest place to say mean things about famous people. Anna Burns Welker, whose husband is the Oklahoma City native-turned-New England Patriots wide receiver, recently vented her frustration on her personal Facebook page following the Patriots’ 28-13 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship.

Her post urged fans to check out the Wikipedia page chronicling the tumultuous past of Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis.

“Proud of my husband and the Pats,” she wrote. “By the way, if anyone is bored, please go to Ray Lewis’ Wikipedia page. 6 kids 4 wives. Acquitted for murder. Paid a family off. Yay. What a hall of fame player! A true role model!” Her inflammatory rant has been deleted, and she has since issued a public apology.

Still, Chicken-Fried News can’t help but remember last year’s Super Bowl, when supermodel Gisele Bündchen, the wife of Pats quarterback Tom Brady, griped on video camera about her hub’s teammates.

“My husband can not fucking throw the ball and catch the ball at the same time. I can’t believe they dropped the ball so many times,” said Bündchen.

Sounds like Bravo might jump on The Real Housewives of New England before someone else does.
