Blue moon

Gazette staff January 30th, 2013

In the Downwardly-Spiraling- Individual-Spirals-Downward department, Oklahoma City attorney Lewis B. Moon has been disbarred for recent actions ranging from threatening others to posing as a federal agent. The state Supreme Court called Moon “an embarrassment to the legal profession” in its Jan. 22 order.

Moon has had several allegedly drunken run-ins with the law. In 2008, he was arrested by Warr Acres police and, in a tirade captured on video, demanded to be taken to county lockup.

Four years later, he was accused of assaulting and threatening another lawyer at an OKC bar. Those threats, according to court documents, allegedly included sticking a pen in the neck of the other guy and vowing to have the man’s daughter raped and killed by five African- American men. Except that’s not the terminology he reportedly used.

An earlier incident in May 2012 featured an allegedly drunken Moon firing machine guns in Logan County with a client, according to court documents. When a neighbor asked them to keep the noise down, Moon allegedly claimed he was with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Moon asked the Supreme Court for leniency based on his history of alcoholism. The court replied that it already had shown leniency when it censured him the first time.
