OKG7 perfect patios

Every week, we give you seven OKC-area restaurants to explore.

Jenn Scott March 27th, 2013

It’s patio weather! Take advantage of it before summer’s scorching rays arrive.

Pops

660 W. Highway 66, Arcadia
pops66.com
928-7677

It’s a local sweetheart, really. But did you know that, on top of the trademark walls of sweet drinks adorning the diner inside, Pops has room for about 50 in the outdoor seating space? It also has a full menu, which makes it the perfect weekend treat. On weekends, Pops features buffalo burgers.

Nonna’s Euro-American Ristorante and Bar

1 Mickey Mantle
nonnas.com
235-4410

If you’d like the experience of Bricktown without thumping techno tunes, check out Nonna’s second-floor patio. It’s a chance to soak up some sun and enjoy the breeze. The full menu is served, but more important, try one of the desserts: coconut cream pie, Italian cream cake or Avis’ chocolate cake.

Chelino’s

15 E. California
chelinosmexicanrestaurant.com
235-3533

Chelino’s gives you a choice in the metro with a gaggle of locations all serving the same delicious Tex-Mex menu. At its Bricktown location, enjoy the food and a libation while on the patio. There is a Wednesday-night special, and don’t forget about the taco salad. For dessert, try a sopaipilla, apple burrito, churro or all three.

The Wedge Pizzeria
230 N.E. First
thewedgeokc.com
270-0660

Tucked in the corner of the Deep Deuce district is the second location of The Wedge. The menu has all the favorites, but here, you’ll find some vegan options. Bring in your own non-dairy cheese and the pizzeria will put it on a pie for you. The two-level patio is open and covered, so it makes those rainy spring days a special treat.

Flip’s Wine Bar & Trattoria
5801 N. Western
flipswinebar.com
843-1527

The patio part of Flip’s makes you feel as if you’ve stepped into a little street-side cafe in Italy. Enjoy the weather and a wine from its extensive list or order from the menu, which is fully served outside. If you’ve never tried the Italian nachos, start there. Take note of its late-night menu, too, served until 1 a.m.

Hensley’s Top Shelf Grill

1551 Garth Brooks, Yukon
htsdining.com
265-4076

Enjoy the patio here, which boasts enough seating for 30. The steaks, by Sterling Silver Top Choice, are all hand-cut, and Hensley’s offers a nice selection of seafood, plus chicken-fried steak and pork chops. Note that its pies are all homemade; another good choice might be its chocolate cake.

Picasso Cafe

3009 Paseo
picassosonpaseo.com
602-2002

Vegetarians, you have your pick here, from a veggie burger to a “chicken-fried” portobello mushroom with vegan soy gravy and fries. Don’t worry, carnivores: You can get meat here, too. Opt for the lobster po’ boy or steak pasta. On Sunday, enjoy a special brunch menu — along with mimosas — all on its quaint patio.
