Let them eat cake, eventually

Gazette staff April 10th, 2013

Famed statistician (yes, that’s a real thing) Nate Silver, who correctly predicted the winner in all 50 states and the District of Columbia in last year’s presidential election, is at it again. In a March 26 post on his blog, FiveThirtyEight: Nate Silver’s Political Calculus, he posited that support for same-sex marriage is increasing steadily and that a majority of U.S. states will vote in favor of it as soon as 2016.

Silver used current polling, trending data and a bunch of other math-type stuff to project when each state would approve same-sex union

According to his figures, Oklahomans in same-sex partnerships still have plenty of time — roughly seven years — to plan their state-sanctioned nuptials.

If you can believe Silver and the trends, Oklahomans won’t be ready to approve the issue until 2020, ahead of only six other states.

All CFN knows is that we foresee a lot more celebratory cake in our future. Someday. And who doesn’t like cake?
