Cherryh picked

Good news for lovers of homegrown sci-fi/fantasy lit. Oklahoma-born-and-bred author C.J. Cherryh’s four-part series The Morgaine Stories is primed for a jump to the big screen. Luckily, the transformation from book to movie doesn’t require a secret spell or potion.

The on-screen franchise will be called The Gates of Morgaine and tell the tale of a disgraced warrior who becomes indebted to a time-traveling heroine.

Considering the fact that Cherryh is a beloved author who’s been producing works since the ’70s, you’d think Hollywood would’ve come knocking sooner.

Maybe it’s because badass female protagonists are all the rage in pop culture these days. Well, here’s hoping producers Aaron Magnani and Peter Arneson do cinematic justice to the native Okie who, by the way, has an asteroid named after her. Like we said: Badass.
