Good to be the king

Gazette staff July 31st, 2013

King Bob Stoops (aka head coach of the University of Oklahoma football team) will reign supreme for at least another seven years as the result of a contract extension that will last through the 2020 season.

Although terms of the new deal were not disclosed, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that King Bob’s compensation will be more than a peasant’s penance.

His contract was extended in September 2011 when a new seven-year deal worth $34.3 million before bonuses was agreed upon. He will earn $4.55 million this year, making him one of the highest-paid collegiate coaches in the nation.

The contract extension won’t be official until the OU Board of Regents officially give their stamp of approval in September. But really, who would have the audacity to turn down King Bob?
