OKG7 seven places to get fancy

Every week, we give you seven OKC-area restaurants to explore.

Jenn Scott September 25th, 2013

Celebrate life. Pull on your little black dress or a special tie and make reservations at one of the metro’s finer dining establishments.

Haunted House Restaurant

7101 Miramar Blvd.

Who wouldn’t want to dine in a haunted mansion? It might be a little spooky, but the food of this longtime, by-reservation-only restaurant will leave you feeling safe and warm. Try the shrimp scampi sautéed with garlic butter, boneless breast of chicken, french-fried shrimp or grilled Norwegian salmon.

Rococo Restaurant & Fine Wine

2824 N. Pennsylvania Ave.

Rococo is known for its amazing crab cakes. In fact, it even has its own Twitter, @RococosCrabCake. While at its brick-and-mortar, enjoy fettuccini carbonara, pomodoro and East Coast-inspired chicken dishes. Never fear — Chef Bruce Rinehart has plenty of dishes for herbivores, too.

The Mantel Wine Bar & Bistro

201 E. Sheridan Ave.

Conveniently located in Bricktown, The Mantel is the perfect stop before an evening on the canal. The Wellington Trio — a shrimp, beef and wild mushroom pastry with lobster sauce — is an excellent start. Dive into the main course with four cheese tortellini and grilled chicken or a prime filet.

Blu Fine Wine & Food

201 S. Crawford Ave., Norman

Sunday brunch at Blu serves up all the hangover must-haves: a Bloody Mary bar, French toast, eggs Benedict and, of course, mimosas. Can’t make it out of bed on Sunday? Stop in for a lunch special or enjoy a dinner entree: portobello chicken quesadillas or rosemary and dijon pork tenderloin.

Lottinvilles Restaurant

801 Signal Ridge Dr., Edmond

Start with the rustic guacamole — a blend of fresh avocado, corn, onion, cilantro and tomatoes. Don’t pass up the Coyote Chicken Sandwich with pulled rotisserie chicken, Jack cheese, jalapeños and onions and balanced with a chipotle mayonnaise. Other top picks are the enchiladas and the chicken-fried steak.

Paseo Grill

2909 Paseo St.

Call ahead for reservations at this locale for exceptional service, delicious food and private dining areas. Enjoy the Chilean Sea Bass with citrus lime beurre blanc or the Paseo Grill filet, done with mushrooms in a light butter and garlic sauce. Don’t pass up the wine — its selection is one of the best.

West Restaurant

6714 N. Western Ave.

Try the chopped grilled asparagus salad, a mix of lettuce and asparagus julienne with a red wine vinaigrette, goat cheese and spiced almonds. Its organic half-chicken is pan roasted and served with potatoes and green beans. For dessert, get banana cake topped with Southern Comfort sauce.
