Works by more than 60 artists across South America and the Caribbean will be featured in a new exhibition of Latin American art from the Cold War.
On loan from the Art Museum of the Americas in Washington, D.C., Libertad de Expresión: the Art of the Americas and Cold War Politics documents the region’s international and cosmopolitan development over the course of five decades and includes “Untitled,” a 1954 painting by Cuban Mario Carreño (above).
The exhibit opens Saturday at the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art at the University of Oklahoma, 555 Elm Ave. in Norman. Admission is free. For more information, call 325-4938 or visit ou.edu/fjjma.
