For the second consecutive year, the OKC-based company earned a spot on the list of 100 companies considered military-friendly by G.I. Jobs magazine. Devon ranked No. 36 for 2014 after being listed at No. 57 in 2013. More than 5,000 companies applied for inclusion in the magazine.
Criteria included strength of company military recruiting efforts, the percentage of new hires with prior military service, retention efforts and company policies toward National Guard and Reserve service.
According to the Devon website, veterans comprised about 10 percent of the company’s new hires in 2013. The firm received praise for its generous military leave of absence policy and its outreach and professional development opportunities for employees with military backgrounds.
