Love who you’re with

Brittany Pickering February 5th, 2014

Let’s just be honest here. Valentine’s Day isn’t about true love or big babies with bows and arrows; it’s about presents (and delicious dinners, but mostly presents). The mushy day of romance and gifts is a little over a week away, and OKC has loads to offer in the romance department. Don’t worry; it has you love-haters covered, too.

Ok City Chorus
OkCity.ORG 720-7464

Send a singing Valentine performed by the esteemed ladies of the OK City Chorus. Your song can be delivered in person ($50), over the phone ($10) or through email ($5). You can even send your love a personal message (and possibly a treat), as well.

Bricktown Candy Co.
100 E. California Ave.

If you want to stray from the cliché, if only just a little, go buy your love some candy. Bricktown Candy Co. carries a variety of gummies, gumballs, hard candy, licorice, taffy, Pez, rock candy and even tried-and-true Jelly Belly products. (Don’t worry; they also sell chocolates — even liqueur-filled ones.) It also offers gift certificates ranging from $5-$100 if you’d rather give the gift of ... a choice.

Atomic Lotus Tattoo
409 NW 23rd St.

If you’re avoiding Cupid and the whole love thing and would prefer to be pierced by an arrow of another sort, like a tattoo gun, for instance, head Uptown and stop by Atomic Lotus Tattoo. The artists at Atomic Lotus can even design a custom tattoo for you. Don’t forget that appointments must be made in advance.

Riverwind Casino
1544 State Highway 9, Norman

If you’re sad and alone or just don’t buy into the whole commercial holiday muck, you can’t go wrong with a night of gam- bling. (Well, technically you can, but that part’s up to you.) Test your luck with electronic games, 28 table games and a poker room that is open 24 hours a day. Riverwind also is home to an American-style buffet, a British pub and a food court with a Burger King and Panda Express.

100 E. Main St.
Perhaps the best thing about the sweetest holiday is chocolate.

Who doesn’t love it? (Only weird people hate chocolate. Remember that when you’re out there in the dating world.) CocoFlow is full of dark cocoa hearts and sweet treats, including truffles, bon bons, chocolate-dipped strawberries, red velvet cakes and Parisian macaroons. If you’re feeling especially bold, send your love a dark chocolate diamond.

Naifeh Fine Jewelry
9203 N. Pennsylvania Ave.
If you’re the type of gift-giver who aims to impress and you want to give a wilt-proof, movie-night-proof gift that will last a lifetime (or the length of your relationship, whichever comes first), there’s nothing better than jewelry. Naifeh offers everyday rings, necklaces, bracelets and various heart-shaped jewelry and even designs custom pieces.

Capitol Hill Florist and Gifts
5809 S. Western Ave.

Capitol Hill florists has served Oklahoma City’s floral needs since 1932. Special Valentine’s bouquets priced from $44.95 to $224.95 feature everything from traditional red roses to tropical flowers like hydrangeas, lilies and orchids usually only seen in the wild while on an exotic vacation. Capitol Hill also sells balloons, plush stuffed animals and a small assortment of chocolates.
