Stealing from children

Gazette staff March 25th, 2014

Crooks broke into a school bus lot and stole eight batteries worth about $1,300-$1,500, Muskogee Public School spokesperson Wendy Burton told The Muskogee Phoenix.

Doing some simple math, that also equals a possible 400-575 students who might have lost a ride to school.

It was no easy swipe, either. The batteries weigh an estimated 50-60 pounds each, and the perps had to cut through a fence to get to the busses. A ninth battery was found dropped nearby, reported Tulsa’s KJRH TV station.

To quote Gale from Raising Arizona, “I know you’re partial to convenient stores, but dammit, H.I., the sun doesn’t rise and set on the corner grocery.”

The police are checking surveillance video and want help from the public to find the offender.
