Kanye West — Yeezus

Try as you might, but there’s no escaping Kanye West. Turn on the TV, radio, computer — hell, take a stroll downtown and you might see his mug projected on the side of a building. It’s an undeniable fact of life in 2013: Kanye West is bigger than Buddha, Krishna and The Beatles (today, anyway) and he’ll be the first to let you know about it.

John Moreland — In the Throes

With the soul of a poet and the look of a Sons of Anarchy extra, Tulsa’s John Moreland has been gifted the sort of gravely, booming voice that does Bruce Springsteen proud and a similar understanding of the universal human experience. Their intense stage show routinely tours the nation, complete with dazzling lighting effects, projection screens, smoke, surround sound and a huge inflatable pig.

"With the surround sound, you feel like you're in a huge set of earphones where just the sounds are just swirling all around," Quinn said. "The seats start to shake and your rib cage starts to rattle, and basically, you close your eyes and you're hearing the best of Pink Floyd from your record collection."

GUITAR HERO
Quinn said he was always fascinated by Floyd guitarist David Gilmour, and did his best to emulate his style.

"From the get-go, he was my guitar hero; he was my mentor," he said. "He was the guy I sought to play like and sound like."

He tried to emulate Gilmour's sound during his career as a professional musician, even when he had to play dance music at fraternity parties.

Eventually, Quinn moved to San Diego and started the first Pink Floyd cover band in the San Diego area before similar groups popped up around the world. "Bryan Mangieri
