The Sam Noble Museum of Natural History, 2401 Chautauqua in Norman invites youth to travel back in time Saturday with a "Prairie Time Traveler" workshop.

The class will be taught by museum staff, and will transport kids to Central Oklahoma's prairie during three different time periods. Participants can walk through a "time machine" and visit dinosaurs, early American Indian inhabitants and pioneer settlers.

Holli Langlieb, museum "ExplorOlogy" coordinator, said the class will walk around the museum and learn about the differences between the prairie now and its historical past.

"They'll investigate our large gallery exhibit with the dinosaurs," she said. "With the Native Americans, they'll look at how lodges were built and lived in, and how they were eating at the time. With the pioneers, they'll look at the houses of the time and the games they were playing, and we'll have prairie snacks from Oklahoma for everyone to enjoy."

Children will also have the chance to go outside the museum to explore the prairie landscape hands-on.

Tickets for the 9 a.m. to noon workshop are $20 per child. Tickets for museum members are $15. Registration is required. For more information, call 325-4712.
