The Oklahoma City Museum of Art, 415 Couch, helps metro kids go green for the holiday with a "St. Patty Printing" class 10 a.m. Thursday.

Kids 3 to 5 years old can create their own custom-designed St. Patrick's Day prints with the help of museum instructor Erin Oldfield.

"We're going to talk about St. Patrick's Day, read a fun book, and talk about the color green " what colors are mixed to make it " and then find them in the museum," Oldfield said. "Back in the classroom, we are going to carve a piece of foam with our own St. Patrick's Day designs, then cover them with paint and stamp it onto paper, revealing our beautiful patty prints."

The prints can be strung together to make garlands, framed as keepsakes or used as holiday greeting cards.

Oldfield said she enjoys teaching classes for toddlers and pre-kindergartners because she feels it is important to get children involved in art at an early age.

"I think a real foundation for the love of art starts here," she said. "I often tell parents, 'Encourage your children to tell you what they see, talk about each piece and make it a real life learning experience. There is so much to be learned by looking at art.'"

"St. Patty Printing" is $7.50 for museum members and $10 for nonmembers. Enrollment is limited. For more information, call 236-3100.
