The Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History, 2401 Chautauqua in Norman, hosts an earth-minded evening with dinner, entertainment and education for parents and kids 6 p.m. Friday.

The "Family Night Out: Wild in the Garden" program is part of the museum's "Becoming an Eco-Family" series, where parents, grandparents and kids of all ages are taught about Oklahoma's natural habitat and ways to preserve and enjoy it.

"They can learn a little more about the great outdoors and Oklahoma's amazing wild landscape," said museum educator Laura Vaughn. "This program, we'll be learning about gardening for wildlife. We'll learn what kinds of wildlife you have in your yard when you live in this part of Oklahoma. We'll talk about the four basic things that wildlife needs to survive and how are some ways we can provide that."

Vaughn said the program is meant to give parents an opportunity to spend quality time with their children without having to worry about cooking dinner and providing entertainment.

"It's geared toward our family audience so everyone can come and have dinner and then we complete a craft and an activity," she said.

Enrollment is $10 per person for members and $12 for nonmembers. Preregistration is required. For more information, call 325-4712.
