Capitol-Parking

In a study of the state Capitol parking lot, nearly half of all legislators prefer a car over a truck or SUV. Chevrolet and Ford are the most common vehicle brands. White is the preferred color, but just by a nose over black.

Of the one-fourth of senators and representatives that likes a truck, the Ford F-150 is the most common, followed by the Chevy Silverado. On the SUV side, the Ford Explorer takes the top notch, although several legislators apparently like the GMC Yukon suburban.

MODELS
Gov. Brad Henry and Lt. Gov. Jari Askins are provided a black GMC Yukon each, at taxpayer expense. Meanwhile:
" House Speaker Lance Cargill, R-Harrah, drives a white Land Rover;
" Senate President Pro Tem Mike Morgan, D-Stillwater, cruises in a Mercedes;
" Morgan's Republican counterpart, Co-President Pro Tem Glen Coffee, parks next to him in a Honda Accord;
" Sen. Cliff Aldridge, R-Choctaw, has the Legislature's only Jaguar;
" Sen. James Williamson, R-Tulsa, the only Infiniti; and
" Sen. Tom Adelson, D-Tulsa, the only Audi.

UNIQUE VEHICLES
Several lawmakers drive hybrid vehicles, and even though half guzzle gas with either a truck or SUV, none of them pulled up to the Capitol in a Hummer.

Then there is Sen. Charles Wyrick. The Democratic dairy farmer from Fairland, near the Kansas-Missouri-Oklahoma border, proudly pulls up to his parking spot in a 1.5-ton white truck. He uses it to haul cows in a stock trailer. "Scott Cooper
