24th annual Ostrich Egg Breakfast
8 a.m. to 11 a.m., Saturday
Oklahoma City Zoo
2101 N.E. 50th
$12 for adults; $7 for kids

Going to the Oklahoma City Zoo this weekend? Bring your appetite.

The Oklahoma Zoological Society is cooking up a big breakfast for its guests on Saturday. The 24th annual Ostrich Egg Breakfast " featuring the famous, made-to-order, ostrich egg omelet " is back, and the menu is stuffed. Kids and adults can order all-you-can-eat omelets, pancakes and Krispy Kreme doughnuts.

After the hearty meal, kids can compete in the zoo's Zoolympics celebration. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., kids can roar like the lions and play the rhino ring toss while learning about the animals at the zoo. When the games are over, guests can enjoy a free sea lion show.

Dana McCrory, executive director of the Oklahoma Zoological Society, said the event has become a tradition for families, and rain or shine, breakfast will be served.

"We have people who have been to all 24 years," she said. "It's truly a family tradition for some people. And yes, we actually use ostrich eggs."

Proceeds from the breakfast will benefit Oklahoma Zoological Society-funded projects, such as local and international conservation efforts, zoological research and educational materials.

The breakfast runs from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Oklahoma City Zoo, 2101 N.E. 50th. Tickets are $12 for adults and $7 for kids, which includes park admission, breakfast and sea lion show. Tickets can be purchased at www.zoofriends.com. "Luke Atkinson
