Edmond Public Library

Attention, all muggles: Please do not be alarmed if you hear rock music coming from your public library. Popular "wizard rock" bands The Remus Lupins and The Ministry of Magic are magicking their way to Edmond to rock your Snitch-stitched socks off.

Library spokeswoman Emily Williams said this is the fourth time the Metropolitan Library System has hosted groups from the popular music subculture inspired by the wizarding ways of the "Harry Potter" books and movies franchise.

"The bands really are huge fans of the series, and all their songs are about different characters in the stories or the angst of waiting for the last book," Williams said. "The audience knows exactly what they are talking about, and they identify with it."

The Remus Lupins, from Los Angeles, are named after Harry Potter's favorite professor and everyone's favorite werewolf, Remus Lupin, so naturally, their biggest hit would be a tune titled "I Was a Teenage Werewolf."

Williams said the turnout for previous shows have had the atmosphere of the Quidditch World Cup, with everyone wearing their favorite robes and with wands at the ready.

"It's a lot of fun and it's a rock show, too, which is something we don't get to do often in the library," Williams said. "It's pretty awesome to have a giant rock concert inspired by books."

For tunes that will have you "rocking and J.K. Rowling" all night long, jump on your Firebolt for the 5 p.m. Saturday show at the Edmond Public Library, 10 S. Boulevard. For more information, call 341-9282 or visit www.metrolibrary.org. "Adam Kemp
