Kanye West — Yeezus

Try as you might, but there’s no escaping Kanye West. Turn on the TV, radio, computer — hell, take a stroll downtown and you might see his mug projected on the side of a building. Fans and bands are gathering Friday night to raise funds for Gary "Speedy" West, a local musician who fronts blues-rock outfit The Clique. The 7 p.m. concert will be held at the Blues Saloon, 2525 N.W. 10th, where West has led a Sunday-night blues jam for more than 10 years. His friend Tim Stanford said donations will help pay medical bills, which are piling up as West battles cancer.

"Most musicians don't have medical insurance," Stanford said. "Whenever one of us gets sick, we tend to look after our own." "Joe Wertz
