Cars win

Mickey McVay November 11th, 2010

How much of his bicycle tag goes to roadways and paths? And, since he is not buying gasoline, he is not paying taxes here, either.

Many of us agree with Eugene Andrews (Letters, "Cyclists have the right-of-way, period," Nov. 3, Gazette) about obeying traffic laws and turning off cell phones.

He cites that he pays taxes for the privilege of riding on the streets and/or bicycle paths. How much of his bicycle tag goes to roadways and paths? And, since he is not buying gasoline, he is not paying taxes here, either.

He and other cyclists may smugly state that they are entitled to the "right-of-way." However, he needs to be reminded that he may be "dead" right, but if he gets run over, he may very well be dead.

Cars will win over bicycles every time. And, dead is dead!
