Fedora? Check. Whip? Check. Snakes? Why'd it have to be snakes?
Unleash your inner action-prone archaeologist with "The Indiana Jones Handbook: The Complete Adventurer's Guide," arriving just before the long-awaited fourth Indy movie finally hits screens May 22. As one might surmise, this tie-in is like all those "Worst-Case Scenario" titles, but with iconic marketing appeal.
The pleasantly designed book offers bite-sized topics on how to do the kind of derring-do that Dr. Jones does, as seen in the franchise thus far, and beyond: using a bullwhip, escaping quicksand, surviving a poisoning, identifying secret passageways, running atop a moving train " heck, even breaking free of the wrath of God (lest you risk a good face-melting).
How useful is all this? Depends on whether your day job entails seeking lost idols and infiltrating underground cults. But with tongue-in-cheek humor and loads of color photos from the films, fans of the series will get a kick out of it.
