Puffin Young Readers
The inspirational journey of Greg Mortenson has been adapted for children " which is fitting considering his life's work is to bring education to the children of Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Mortenson stumbled upon his passion on accident. After a failed attempt to reach the summit of K2, a peak in the Himalayas, he found himself lost in Pakistan. He was taken in by a village chief and promised the people of the isolated area that he would return to build them a school. That was 1993, and since then, he has established more than 60 schools in the region, often traveling with his wife, Tara, and their two children, Khyber and Amira.
This young readers' edition was adapted by Sarah Thompson and includes pictures of the schools, children and family, as well as an interview with Amira.
