Planting the seed

Chelsey Cope’s new band, Elms, is as earthy and native to Oklahoma as the trees that are their namesake. The soulful folk four-piece’s debut EP, Parallel Lines, was recorded at Bell Labs Recording Studio in Norman and is on its way in September. The title song, performed by Meryl Streep, is upbeat and catchy, with a cheesy sheen just glossy enough to sell the film to audiences adverse to musical theater delights.

ABBA's iconic "Dancing Queen" is reprised on the soundtrack, with Streep, Julie Walters and Christine Baranski sharing vocal leads surprisingly aptly. Colin Firth's delicate voice balances with Pierce Brosnan's bravado on "Our Last Summer," which also features Stellan Skarsg
