Neil Young - Live at Massey Hall 1971

Reprise

In recent months, Neil Young fans have had much reason to rejoice. In November, Young began releasing albums from what is reportedly a vast vault of archives.

The first was a ripping good show from Neil with Crazy Horse in 1970 at the Fillmore East in New York City. This, the second in what is already an exceptional series, features Young solo' accompanying himself sometimes on guitar, sometimes on piano' at Toronto's Massey Hall in '71.

Young was touring behind the just-released "After the Gold Rush," but he was also previewing material from the upcoming "Harvest," his most widely loved album to date.

Throughout his career, Young's concerts have often featured a solo set first, followed by a second set with his full band. While the latter is typically a ragged, raucous affair, the former features a captivating artist at his pure essence. It's in this form that Young and his music are their most powerful.'Dave Bond
