Singing Zoologist' visiting four metro libraries

Gazette staff September 6th, 2007

LucasMiller-Singing-Zoologi

What do you get when you mix Dr. Doolittle, The Crocodile Hunter and Bill Nye the Science Guy? A high-energy, charismatic animal-lover with a penchant for communicating with children and nature in some of the most off-the-wall ways.

His name is Lucas Miller, but he's better known as "the Singing Zoologist." Children in the metro area will get the chance to let their imagination run wild with Miller when he visits four Metropolitan Library System libraries this week.

SCHEDULE
He will appear:
" 10-11 a.m. today at Village Library, 10307 N. Pennsylvania;
" 2-3 p.m. at Choctaw Library, 2525 Muzzy in Choctaw;
" 7-8 p.m. at Edmond Library, 10 S. Boulevard in Edmond; and
" 7-8 p.m. Thursday at the Del City Library, 4509 S.E. 15th.

Miller uses songs, dances and puppets to teach children about Monarch butterflies, endangered species and other nature-related topics.

"I think it's a good mix for the library, because it teaches them a lot about zoology, which is probably a scary word for a 7-year-old," said Kim Terry, Metropolitan Library System manager of marketing and communications. "He makes it interesting and fun. I don't think anyone will be bored."

All shows are open to the public and free. For more information, visit their site.
