Oklahomans travel to Texas to buy hard-core porn

Oklahoma has some of the strongest obscenity laws in the country, which may be why a place like DW's Video in Gainesville, Texas, has more Oklahoman than Texan license plates in the parking lot.
 
"Probably about 60 percent of our business comes from Oklahoma," said Charlotte, who works at the pornographic video store. Frequent business is provided by Oklahomans seeking hard-core, triple-X, non-edited porn.
 
COUNTING CARS
On one Sunday morning in early February, eight vehicles were found in DW's parking lot, just south of the Red River. Six of the cars had Oklahoma license plates, including a taxi cab.
 
The store opened 10 years ago and definitely has followed the rule of location, location, location to aid in the sale of sex, sex, sex.
 
"(We) didn't realize that many Oklahomans would come over here, even if it is just for that," Charlotte said.
 
STATE LAWS
In an interview with Oklahoma Gazette a year ago, former Oklahoma County District Attorney Wes Lane spelled out the state's legal guidelines for having pornography: Oklahomans can own such videos as long as they do not sell them within or from Oklahoma and do not make copies of or pass them around.
 
Officials with the Love County sheriff's office, which sits on the Oklahoma side of the Oklahoma-Texas border, said they have no problems with people bringing porn in from Texas. "Scott Cooper
