Little Women' turned into musical at OCU

Gazette staff September 20th, 2007

Remember Jo, Meg, Amy and Beth March from Louisa May Alcott's coming-of-age novel, "Little Women"? Well, your children might not. So this weekend, introduce them to the American classic in a way they'll appreciate.

Oklahoma City University will present the state premiere of "Little Women: The Musical." Students from OCU's Wanda L. Bass School of Music will take the stage to perform a family-friendly adaptation of the 2005 Tony-nominated musical at OCU's Kirkpatrick Auditorium, 2501 N. Blackwelder. Showtimes are 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 3 p.m. Sunday.

"Powerful voices, brilliant acting and striking costumes will fill the OCU stage," said David Herendeen, director of opera and music theater at the university.

Everyone is invited to attend a "Little Women" dinner before Friday's performance, at 6:30 p.m. Tickets for the dinner are $20 per person.

Before Sunday's 3 p.m. performance, there will be an afternoon tea where attendees can enjoy tea foods and get the chance to meet the cast. These events will take place at the school's Bass Music Center Atrium. Tickets for the tea are $10 for adults and $8 for children 12 and under.

For tickets and more information, call 208-5227 or their site.
