Ashley Wells, Lyric's associate artistic director, describes "Pump Boys and Dinettes" as a great show about life on the road.

"It is about a group of men that work at a gas station, and the waitresses that own the diner across street," she said. "The guys call themselves 'the pump boys,' and the girls, Prudie and Rhetta Cupp, call themselves 'the dinettes.' The pump boys have lived on Highway 57 for a long time and they have a philosophy of life, 'Work won't kill you, but worry will. As an actor, director and musician, Lutken has a diverse career that has taken him to Broadway, Carnegie Hall and the New York City Opera, as well as touring in Europe. He was last seen at Lyric in 2009, starring in the critically acclaimed "Woody Sez," which he also created.

"Pump Boys" also stars Barb Schoenhofer as one of the sisters at the Double Cupp Caf
