Photography museum showcases Oklahoma centenarians, farmhouses

None December 2nd, 2010

IPHF

Ageless faces and rural places of Oklahoma adorn the halls of the International Photography Hall of Fame & Museum for exhibitions by Oklahoma artists M.J. Alexander and Wilson Roberts.

An opening reception for the already in-progress exhibitions will be held 5-7 p.m. Saturday at the IPHF museum inside the Omniplex, 2100 N.E. 52nd.

CENTENARIANS
Alexander's "Centenarians Salt of the Red Earth: Ageless Portraits of Oklahoma's Elders," features more than 50 portraits of Oklahomans who have reached the 100-year mark.

Exhibiting through July 9, the portraits are accompanied by quotes from each centenarian, allowing a closer look at each subject's personality and outlook on living.

RURAL PLACES
Roberts' "Oklahoma Dreams" features photos of abandoned farmhouses and other tattered monuments in sepia tones. His photos will be exhibited through June 25.

"We are thrilled to exhibit the work of two talented Oklahoma photographers," said IPHF director Katie Sutton in a press release. "Although the IPHF is an international organization, we're proud of our Oklahoma home. The work of M.J. and Wilson show two of the best parts of our state: the people and the landscape."
