Letters to the Editor

Carl Hall
Regarding “Death to Elmo?” (News, Clifton Adcock, Nov. 16, Gazette), which concerned a proposal to end state funding for OETA:

Shock and schadenfreude

Letters to the Editor

Brandon Wertz
I’m not sure which emotion best conveys my feelings with regard to Tom Furlong’s Nov. 16 response (“A shot in the dark,” Oklahoma Gazette) to James Cooper’s story, “From closet to community,” (Nov. 2 and 9, Gazette).

Bad move, Oklahoma City Council

Letters to the Editor

Steve Kern
As a pastor, Bible teacher and student of history, I would like to say to the City Council, your vote to add “sexual orientation” to the nondiscrimination list was a bad move.

Rest, ye merry caregivers

Letters to the Editor

Joanette Clipson
The holidays are a natural time to enjoy family and get-togethers — sharing festive meals, exchanging gifts and celebrating traditions. But for the 65 million Americans taking care of someone with a life-limiting illness, finding holiday cheer can be difficult.

‘Let them eat cake'

Letters to the Editor

D.W. Tiffee
I see that Chris Smith (Commentary, “Point: What is the endgame?” Nov. 16, Oklahoma Gazette) is using the typical lawyer tactic of sneer and smear when he describes the Occupy Wall Street demonstrators as “bum(s)” who are a “blight on our community.”

Save Elmo!

Letters to the Editor

Stephen N. Kennedy
Regarding “Death to Elmo?” (News, Clifton Adcock, Nov. 16, Gazette), OETA shows documentaries on chimpanzees and gorillas, but I have yet to see a show on OETA about evolution.

WWJD?

Letters to the Editor

Brandon Wertz
In response to “Bah, humbug!” (Chicken-Fried News, Nov. 23, Gazette) in which U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe claimed he would never attend Tulsa’s Holiday Parade of Lights because it nixes the word “Christmas,” I have to say, good for him.

More need to march

Letters to the Editor

Lewis Jones
Every parent-to-be wants to have a healthy baby. But it doesn’t always happen that way. More than half a million babies each year are born too soon here in the United States and, worldwide, that figure jumps to more than 12 million babies.

Talking turkey

Letters to the Editor

Owen Pelroy
While President Obama is pardoning two turkeys for Thanksgiving, every one of us has that same presidential power by choosing a nonviolent Thanksgiving observance that spares a turkey’s life.

Stickin' with the union

Letters to the Editor

Tom Elmore
The back-alley freight transfer line and ramp discussed in “Spur of the moment” (News, Clifton Adcock, Nov 2, Oklahoma Gazette) compares to OKC Union Station’s lamented, 12-track-wide, 8-block-long rail plant and its direct, metro and statewide rail connections only insofar as an outhouse might be compared to the White House.

On the wrong track?

Letters to the Editor

Edwin Kessler
The “Spur of the moment” article in the Nov. 2 Gazette contains an important misleading statement, though concerns expressed in the article for preservation of a rail spur now scheduled for transfer from the state Department of Transportation to Union Pacific are well-justified.

‘No excuse to cheer destruction’

Letters to the Editor

Michael Barlow
The letter by Chris Reiger (“A response to Paul Wesselhoft,” Nov. 9, Gazette) attempts to justify Arab anger against the United States, even to the extreme of cheering while America was attacked on 9/11, by blaming America’s support of Israel.

'Wealth' of information

Letters to the Editor

Shane Woolbright
The commentary on eliminating state income taxes by Jonathan Small (“Creating a boomtown in OKC,” Nov. 2, Oklahoma Gazette) might make better sense if he took the federal tax code into consideration. State income taxes are deductible.

Boundary issues

Letters to the Editor

Rob Abiera
In reading the description of how police officers abused alleged code violations in order to harass and intimidate the owners of Angles back in the early ’80s (James Cooper, “From closet to community, part two,” Nov. 9, Gazette), I couldn’t help but be reminded of recent coverage (News, Clifton Adcock, “Midtown Mayhem,” Sept. 7, Gazette) of the ABLE Commission, whose activities in enforcing Oklahoma’s liquor laws contributed to the shutting down of the inaugural H&8th Night Market in August of this year.
