Donation station

By Jenny Coon Peterson October 7th, 2010
Two new resale shops have opened that give back to the community. As a broke college kid, I pretty much survived on resale shops and Target, so I take every opportunity now " as a not-broke adult " to donate to these useful stores, especially the shops that support a cause.

In Edmond, Our Sisters' Closet has just opened. The shop, 101 E. Hurd, is a project of the Oklahoma City YWCA, and money generated from the store goes back to YWCA programs.

Our Sisters' Closet stocks clothing for women and children as well as household items and toys. You can donate items to both the new Edmond location and another shop at 6012 S. Western.

Goodwill opened a new flagship store this past weekend. The massive store, 316 S. Blackwelder, clocks in at 12,600 square feet " which means so many more unique treasures.

You can make donations at this or any of the other Central Oklahoma Goodwill locations, plus another nine donation centers. The new Goodwill superstore will also house a recycling center, to open in 2011.
