The Boom Bang, which still owns one of the metro’s best band names, is all set to drop its debut album, “World War Fun,” on the unsuspecting world tomorrow. The (rim)shot heard round the (music) world will fire sometime after The Conservatory’s doors open at 9 p.m. Copperheads and Shitty/Awesome will be there to celebrate as well.
I believe that The Boom Bang is in the right place at the right time to take advantage of the current indie trends (as I noted here). This is their last local show before SXSW, which could very well catapult them into the skuzzy, lo-fi rock spotlight as a buzz band. They could be the next Best Coast, and make pizza the new Snacks the Cat.
For real, I’m ready for that. I mean, I love LOLcats more than the next guy, but Snacks’ time in the limelight needs to give way to an actual snack/meal. And people need to hear The Boom Bang.
What does this mean for you? Only the only all-important, all-coveted phrase: “I was there.”
Be there.
